RESTORATION
| Restoration involves designing and reproducing a variety of shapes or components, incorporating or attaching them, repairing damages from nature, resurfacing, then protecting the restored object from future damage. In the picture below we restored Ella by reshaping her left ear, as well as repairing multiple cracks and weather damage. A cement primer, also used as a roofing membrane, was then applied, followed by spraying it with a commercial polymer-modified porcelain cement composite. Color was integrated into the material as well as applied topically for detailed control. As a final step, we applied three coats of a UV safe, chemical resistant epoxy sealer to make sure she is comfortable in the extremes of freeze and thaw cycles typical in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.

Gigi was having a very bad day so we gave her the "wizard of oz" treatment. Her repair included replacing an ear, re-attaching her neck and tail then completing the same process as with Ella above. |
